Obituary of Rudorph Burke

CAMDEN - Funeral service for Rev. Rudorph “Jack” Burke, 83, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Worship Center with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. George Cashwell, Rev. Jack Crain, and Rev. Donald Goude will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or Karesh Wing LTC facility. Rev. Burke, husband of the late Sally Viola Crain Burke, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Born in Lincolnton, Ga., he was a son of the late Ace David and Maude Rowland Burke. At the age of 18, Rev. Burke became a Congregational Holiness Minister and pastored in Rutherfordton, N.C. and the Hartsville Congregational Holiness Church. In 1963, he joined the Freewill Baptist Conference and pastored churches in Blackville, Edgefield, and Camden. During his time of ministry, he also managed the Congregational Holiness Publishing House for 3 years and worked for the Hartsville Messenger Printing Company, and Davis Printing Company in Camden. Surviving are his daughters, Trisha B. (Dr. Donald) Powell of Columbia, Viola Drusilla (Mike) Cutler of Lugoff, Rudene B. (Curtis) Hutto of Camden, and Maude B. (Danny) Davis of Greer, S.C.; brother, Grady “Sam” (Betty) Burke of Greenwood; sister, Lorena Goolsby of Lincolnton, Ga.; grandchildren, Tammy (Chris) Watson, Teresa (Robbie) Powers, Michael Weatherford (Robin), Lee Cutler, Shaun (Jessica) Cutler, Brent (Laura) Hutto, and Jason (Carren) Hutto; 5 step grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 5 step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Hoyt Burke, John Burke, and A.D. Burke; and sister, Margaret Story.
