Obituary of Mattie P. Goff

ELGIN – A Celebration of Life Service for Mattie Paschal Goff, 89, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Blaney Baptist Church. The Rev. Philip Blankenship and the Rev. George Cashwell will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Blaney Baptist Church Choir Fund, P.O. Box 305, Elgin, S.C. 29045, or Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookie Doo Ln, Elgin, S.C. 29045. Mrs. Goff died Friday, December 21, 2012. Born in Blaney, S.C. (Tookie Doo) she was the daughter of the late Bill and Jessie Sims Paschal. She was married to the late Thurston Edward “Chetty” Goff, for over 59 years. She was a member of Blaney Baptist Church, and a former member of Harmony Baptist Church. She loved both churches dearly. Mrs. Goff was very active in her church, which she loved and enjoyed. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and being a homemaker. She was very devoted to so many in her life. Surviving are her beloved sisters, Billie Wingard (Roy) of Lexington, Dot Drum (Bobby) of Columbia; nephews and nieces, Wendy Gay (Doug), of Rock Hill, Kim Summer of St. Simons Island, GA, Lesa Woodard (Dean) of Tulsa, OK, Patricia Bales (Walt), of Elgin, Bill Paschal (Gwen) of Elgin, Ramona Paschal of Columbia, Sandra Jones (Edward) of Elgin, Byron Goff (Ruby), of Elgin; great nephews and nieces, Amanda Oakley (Frank) of Tulsa, OK, Lindsay Wilson (Stewart) of Tulsa, OK, Elizabeth Bales, of Elgin, Lacey Paschal of Elgin, Woody Paschal of Elgin, Ryan Jones (Karen), of Leesburg, VA, Tanya Sawyers and Clay Sawyers of Stuart, VA, Brandon Goff (Toni) of Blythewood; great great nephews and nieces, Naida Oakley, Oliver Wilson, Sophia Jones, McCray Sawyers, Martin Sawyers, Codi Goff, and Lyli Goff; and also a special family member, Bonnie Thomas (Tommy) of Gaston; and the loving family of the late Thurston Goff. She was predeceased by brothers, Raymon, Elmer and Hazel Paschal. The family wants to thank all of those who have done so much for her. A special thanks to Eddie Williams, III, MD, and staff, Freddie Mubarak and Staff of the Elgin Pharmacy, White Oak Manor Staff and Paul Joseph, Sr., MD, and his staff for their loving care and service through many years. Mrs. Goff gave the gift of donation to the Medical University of South Carolina, as her final wish of service to mankind.
