Obituary of Woodfin Morgan

LUGOFF – Funeral service for Woodfin Odell Morgan, 96, will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden. The Rev. David Robinson and the Rev. Eric Wooten will officiate. Pallbearers serving will be his grandsons and great-grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lugoff Masonic Lodge #411. The family will receive friends Friday 11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to KershawHealth Hospice 124 Battleship Rd, Camden, SC 29020. Mr. Morgan, husband of the late Clara Smith Morgan, died Monday, February 16, 2015. Born in Seneca, S.C., he was the son of the late Dewitt Odell and Grace Cox Morgan. He served in the United States Army during WWII and retired from the South Carolina Forestry Commission in 1976 where he served as District Ranger and Arson Investigator. Mr. Morgan was a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church, charter master of Lugoff Lodge #411 and a former member of the Wateree Warriors Camping Group. He formerly served on the Lugoff-Elgin Water District Board and the Lugoff Fire District Board. Surviving are his sons, Jerry Morgan (Pat) of Bradenton, Fla., and Donald Morgan (Gloria) of Lake Wateree; daughters, Gail Clements (Russell) of Lugoff and Diane Peters (Tommy) of Lugoff; sisters, Margaret Carnes of Mt. Pleasant, Shirley Jones of Jacksonville, Fla., and Barbara Stephens-DeForr of Seneca; brothers, Wallace Morgan (Dot) of Seneca, Leon Morgan (Bett) of Seneca, Lane Morgan (Kathy) of Seneca, Jesse Morgan (Inge) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jack Morgan of Clemson; sister-in-law, Dot Morgan of Memphis, Tenn. 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several great-great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Rayford Morgan and James Morgan; and sister, Katherine Morgan. The family extends a special thank you for the loving care given by KershawHealth Hospice, VA Home Based Primary Care and to our wonderful caregivers who made it possible to care for Mr. Morgan at home.
