I was a student of hers a couple of years before her death. She is one of my favorite teachers in middle school. She gave us a great time and I still have good memories to think of.

My first memory of Kathy is from circle time when we were kindergarteners together. I distinctly remember her saying her favorite color was blue!
Later in high school it was driving around in her gold Cutlass, listening to 8-track tapes of David Bowie, the Doors, the Cars…among many other antics with our high school crew.
Kathy was always up for an adventure or a heart-to-heart chat, a sincere friend as beautiful on the inside as out. She truly lit up the room and memories of her will never fade. May her soul rest in peace.

My name is Rick Karvelas
I've known Kathy for 45 years.
Best friends as High Schoolers would be a gross understatement.
Our respective girlfriends/boyfriends would call eachother to see if they knew where we were at any point.
When Kathy walked into a roo.too., she, at that moment, commanded the room.
Her dedication to friendship, students, and family should not shock anyone. Her heart was the beat of everyone who knew her.
When Her cousin Sue called me to tell me, my heart dropped in the same way as my mother's death...I lost another family member.
Our lives are better for knowing her...mine certainly is.

Kathy was one of the first ones I got to know as I started at LEMS. I always got a “Good Morning Porter” as she went in to make her coffee. She always was reading books to make suggestions for her students. I only got to work with her for 2 years but she will forever hold a special place in my heart. Not only for her love for teaching but for her love of my son who she had last year!

As cousins we grew up with a special bond. As kids living in 2 different states we always looked forward to the holidays and a few days together as we got older we treasured our times tighter on LBI , Myc , Cherry Hill, Leonia, Kiawah… the memories are endless. Kathy was always high energy ready to go and do anything. Her laugh was infectious and her smile beautiful.
She will be truly missed!.. Rest in peace .

I knew Kathy as Ms. Wilson, my 6th grade history teacher, and a real human being who was there for not only me, but every kid who struggled with the hardships that came with being in middle school. She was the coolest, and always leant an open ear and open heart to anyone.
I met a couple of my lifelong best friends in her class, which makes memories of her all the sweeter. My buddy Pete and I took some pictures in the Amazon and both said, “These are for Ms. Wilson!” (I’ll attach the very image). This is a life lesson for myslef, and anyone to reach out to those you love before it was too late.
I was born 20 years too late, as far as my taste in music was concerned, but Kathy didn’t think so, she thought it was so cool that I was into Van Halen and Primus. Sometimes after school, even when I as in the 7th and 8th grade, I would go hang out in Ms. Wilson’s class room while she finished up her day, and play bass guitar while she busied herself. She was truly the coolest, and most selfless lady I ever knew, and I’ll kiss her for all of my days. My condolences to Mr. Jones, Sophie, and Robbie, and everybody that touched the life of Kathy Jones

I’m deeply sorry to hear about Kathy’s passing. There wasn’t a time when we crossed each other in the halls of LEMS that she didn’t trade a kind word and/or have a funny quip. Such a lovely and warm person who I will miss very much. Much love, sweet friend. God’s peace.

Mrs.Jones was the best teacher even on the hard days she would still put in time and effort to the students in her class. She had a BIG heart for her students. She was really kind to all her students. I was in her class for 6th grade and it makes me really sad that she passed.

I’m going to miss Kathy. I’m going to miss her sense of humor and honesty. She was more than just a teacher. She was a mentor who always told it like it was.
