Obituary of Carey Dancho Merriweather

LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Carey Ann Dancho Merriweather, 46, will be held on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday 5-7 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church.  Memorials may be made to Kershaw County Humane Society.

Mrs. Merriweather passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023.  Born in Bethlehem, Pa., she was the daughter of Thomas Dancho and Linda Souders Alverson.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Converse College and worked for South Carolina DHEC.  She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.  Mrs. Merriweather loved being a mom and her world revolved around her children’s activities.  She loved animals and enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 19 years, William Deshawn Merriweather; son, Stephen Deshawn Merriweather; daughter, Casandra Latrice Merriweather; father, Thomas Dancho of Lugoff; mother, Linda Alverson of Virginia; sisters, Lynn Wilkes (Morgan) and Lori Tyree (D.J.); and many other relatives and beloved friends.
