Obituary of Robert William Speedy

Robert W. Speedy died on April 06, 2023, at MUSC Medical Center in Charleston, SC. Born in Warsaw, NY, on January 5, 1972, he was the son of George W. Speedy of Ridgeway, SC and the late Betty L. Speedy of Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Robert attended school in Camden, SC in his early years, but attended high school in Mt. Pleasant, SC and graduated from Trident Academy in 1990. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to communications. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina and traveled to Great Britain, Europe, and Israel on various assignments while in the Marine Corps. Upon his separation from the Marines, Robert returned to Ridgeway and worked in home construction before moving to Charleston. There he continued in that line of work and ultimately formed his own business known as Speedy Woodworks.

In addition to his father, Robert is survived by his daughter, Isabella Anderson Speedy of Georgetown, SC; a granddaughter, Calliope Speedy of Georgetown, SC; his son, William Maxwell Speedy of Murrells Inlet, SC; a brother, Chad W. Speedy; niece, Melia Speedy; his nephew, Dorian Speedy of Avon, NC; as well as his brother, Brett Speedy (Sadie) and their children, Payton and Ivy, all of John’s Island, SC.

A graveside service for Mr. Speedy will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11:00am in Greenhaven Preserve, Eastover, SC.
