Obituary of Bob Keyes

Robert “Bob” William Keyes, 90, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. Born in Asheville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Howard and Nell Bly Ferguson Keyes. Mr. Keyes worked for McLean trucking for 20 years before opening Huckabee Hound Trucking with his brother. He enjoyed working on antique cars and trucks, rescuing cats, traveling, going to the fair, family get togethers and he did not enjoy sitting still. Mr. Keyes was a Wake Forest Alumni and loved watching Wake Forest football. Mr. Keyes was a United States Navy Veteran and traveled across the world.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving companion of 40 years, Frances Stewart and her children, Vickie McClain(deceased) Steven Stewart (Jean) and Sheila Hooper (Dave);brothers, Howard Keyes Jr. (Shirley) and Jack Keyes (Jean); sister, Susie Davis; granddaughters, Lizzie Hooper and Stevie Plew (Patrick); great-grandson, Levi Plew; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Theil-Meyer Pet Adoption Center or Kershaw Health Hospice.
