Dave, While the three great lights as fellow Captains in our estimation and in our battalion were Spradley, Hooper, and Andrews, you did entertain and mentor the likes of the lesser lights, Domascek, Helma and Bortner. 782nd Maintenance Battalion and Bn Cdr LTC Jim Ball never had it so good as to have such stalwarts under his command! Or at least we thought so. Those were truly the best of times, so fondly remembered by all, Brother Spradley. As the premier MATO (Material Officer), we more than once witnessed during the “bloodlettings” (Division level readiness reviews), as you committed with certainty to our 82nd Airborne Division Commander, the ready status of a particular piece of Army equipment in your maintenance shops for repairs, only to be able to make their amazing and expeditious return to ESC green plus safe status before he could follow up down the chain of command to see if it was actually so. Perito Cognito!! All The Way, Sir! Airborne!!

This message means the world to me, guys! I was fairly young when you all worked together, but I have great memories of your friendship with Dad and Mom & of our time in Fayetteville, including babysitting Holly as an infant! One thing I can say about growing up as an Army brat is that Army friends became family wherever we went and they were people I knew we could count on. Knowing that you all will continue to carry memories of Dad with you is such a comfort to me. Thanks for posting this! <3

Capt. Spradley, Sir, As a fellow Army Veteran I want to Thank-you and your Family for your Service and Sacrifice on behalf of Our Country. You saw and did a lot of things that the regular person never fully understands unless you been in Service to your Country and overseas and in Harms Way. The long days and nights, the missed birthdays, the miss moments with family, kids growing up etc. I would have truly like to shake your hand and hear your stories. 17 years old into the Army and youngest Warrant Officer. Pretty great starting points. The Vietnam War is a rough time for many Servicemen. Fighting over there, and then coming home having to fight again with your own people you help protect. I'm glad you made it back home to enjoy life, many over there didn't get that chance. A long held Salute to you Capt. and again Thank-you for all you did on our behalf , and to his Family Thank-you for the Sacrifices you made ,when Dad was gone overseas , in the field, and at war . I know they are lonely times . God Bless you and keep you all in his Love, Compassion, and Grace. You have our Highest Respect and Deepest Sympathy to his Family and Friends. Bless you, for this comment, Sgt. Love. Dad's time in the Army defined who is was as a person. I considered my dad a superhero because he jumped out of airplanes for a living. I was only four, but I remember the night he came home from Vietnam; his fatigues were cold as he wrapped his arms around me. Ultimately, Agent Orange caused his death, but he lived a life full of adventure and had no unfinished business when he left this world. He left quite a legacy. Thanks again for your message. ~Lisa

Thank you, Ivan. Dad mentioned you often. I can only imagine what opinions he shared. :) He was not one to hold back his thoughts. He truly loved the Masonic Lodge and working with the Eastern Star. As a family, we are most thankful for Dad's faith and the hope we have in Jesus and, like you said, that we can look forward to seeing each other again. Thank you for your comment.
