Obituary of Franklin Delano Maples, Jr.
LUGOFF – Franklin Delano Maples, Jr., 57, passed away at Providence Hospital on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Born in Columbia, he was the son of Franklin Delano Maples, Sr. and the late Lois Headden Maples. He retired from the City of Columbia Fire Department where he was the Fire Marshal. He was currently the Chief Fire Marshal for the Department of Social Services.
Mr. Maples was a member of Springvale Baptist Church and the South Carolina Fire Marshal Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and was an avid Clemson fan.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Regina Norton Maples; children, Brooke Thomas (Brady) of Columbia, Amy Blease of Blythewood, Katie Krumrey (Jake) of Chapin and Isaiah Blease of Lugoff; sisters, Sharon Dickert (Charlie) and Jane Cook (Clayton); brothers, Ed Argoe (Lee) and David Argoe (Kim); and 5 grandchildren.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Springvale Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Larry Fraser will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Springvale Baptist Church Youth Fund.
