David was a true friend and my bread buddy. He was a light in this dark work world, shining bright always. We had so many great talks about quilting, bread making, blueberry picking, family, etc. I loved to cater the Rabon family Christmas Party because I felt like I was accepted as one of them. We had so much fun! You couldn't be around David and not feel uplifted. Even on a bad day, he still was in good spirits. I am so glad I visited on his "outstanding days" a few weeks ago. David will always have a place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with Annette and the family. I know they will miss him so much. Love to all of you.

When David was in the Navy, he would stay at my grandmother’s house when he was in port. My dad, youngest sister and I also lived there for a while. He was always smiling and cutting up. I remember one time John Denver was coming to Norfolk. I mentioned how much I loved his music. David said it sounded like something he would like too. He asked me to buy 2 tickets for him and one of his friends and gave me the money to do so. After I bought the tickets for him, he told me that he had listened to some of Denver’s music and it really wasn’t his style. He wanted me to have the tickets. So I was able to go to my first concert. David was always doing kind things. I’ll miss his phone calls and talking quilting with me and metal detecting with my husband.

So sorry to hear of this. I had the pleasure of working with David as a firefighter with the Columbia Fire Dept. Great guy with a great smile and wit.
We had each others backs. It is an honor to call him friend and brother. May he rest in peace. Until we meet again my friend!

My parents, Johnny and Kathy Henderson, have been great friends with David and Annette as long as I can remember, so I've known him pretty much my whole life. I've always thought David was such a nice guy, even when I was a child. One thing that will stick with me was how happy he and Annette seemed every time I saw them. They were so jolly and always smiling and laughing, and were really fun to have around! I am so sorry for the loss of such a sweet man, and my prayers go out to the whole family. He will be missed by many!

I worked at little pats store for many years. I bought a truck from “the Mr Rabon” as he told me. I knew the rest of the family and I know his brother Alvin and used to work with Lydia and also knew her. The Mr Rabon as he told me he was was a very funny and a trip. I think he brought us some of the bread at little Pat’s store. I think he called it friendship bread. He was a pleasure knowing and I had asked about him a few months ago when I ran into his sisters. Your family knew my family. I am so sorry for your loss and prayers go out to your family.

Annette, Jason, Nick and family, we pray that you find peace and comfort knowing that David is with our heavenly Father. David has been a good friend to us through the years. He helped us build our home in Blythewood, and was one of the best painters I’ve seen. We spent many hours treasure hunting, but David found more jewelry than me, and would pay for our coffee with the coins that he found. There was never a dull moment when David was around! Fond memories of you will live on through the many stories that family and friends will tell. We’re going to miss you my friend.
