Obituary of Gladys Williams Jones

CAMDEN- A funeral service for Gladys Williams Jones, 98, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Camden Second Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Joyce Wright will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camden Second Presbyterian Church.

    Mrs. Jones, wife of the late Samuel Leonard Jones, Sr., passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021. Born in Bachelor, LA, she was a daughter of the late George Williams, Sr. and Josephine Sylvest Williams. Mrs. Jones was a member of Camden Second Presbyterian Church where she was very involved. She enjoyed gardening, Bible study, sewing and Japanese embroidery.

    Surviving are her son, Samuel “Lenny” Jones, Jr. (Alice) of Columbia; sister, Jessie Mae Williams; brother, John Williams (Gloria); grandchildren, Lawrence Eugene Hudgins, Daniel Roberson, Samuel Leonard Jones, III; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by children, Valerie Roberson, Quannie “Billy” Jones; and siblings, Oneida Ballet, James Williams and George Williams.
