Rhonda and I worked together at Lakenheath American Elementary school in England. We quickly became friends and shared a love of antiques. Once we played hookey, put in for a day of leave and didn't tell our coworkers where we were going. We spent the day at a huge antique fair and had a blast! There was no one better to treasure hunt with than Rhonda. She would pick up an old worn object (I remember a spurtle that she got at the antique store in Ely) and carefully turn it over, examining every inch, looking for the places that had been worn by some other woman's hands, and she would say "I can just imagine her..." When I bought my sideboard, I commented that it was too bad there was a scratch across the top. She said she loved the scratch and could just imagine how the woman felt when it happened. I can run my fingers along that scratch and hear Rhonda's voice. We spent 3 years together and I count them as some of the best of my life. Rhonda was clever, witty, caring and had an amazing sense of humor. She loved well and was well loved.
