Obituary of Betty Jane Greer

CAMDEN – Funeral service for Betty Jane Peters Greer, 66, will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Danny Hedgepath will officiate. Masks are required. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.

    Mrs. Greer, wife of the late James LeRoy Greer, Sr., passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 7, 2021.  Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Pinkney Peters and Lena Wood Peters.  She was employed at DuPont for two decades.  She also worked in public safety at South Carolina Department of Corrections, Camden Police Department, was a Bail Bondsman, and ultimately retired from the Kershaw County Detention Center in 1999. She enjoyed fishing with her husband James.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her special friends.

    Surviving are her daughter, Jackie Hopkins (Lynn) of Bishopville; son, Brooks Houser of Camden; step-children, James Greer Jr. (Denise) and Sandra Greer; brother, Pete Peters; grandchildren, Lauren Bugger (Patrick), Josh Napper, Laila Houser, Lucy Houser and Justin Hopkins; step-grandchildren, Thomas Greer, April Greer and Courtney Greer; and great-grandchildren, Vance Langford and P.J. Bugger.  She was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Judd; and grandchildren, Ashley Greer Shin, Jackson Hopkins and Jason Hopkins.
