CAMDEN – Funeral service for Ryan Wyatt Simpson, 17, will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Russ Galloway will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Ryan died on Sunday, February 19, 2012. Born in Columbia, S.C., he was the son of Melvin Steven Simpson and Cheryl Galloway Gainey. He was a Junior at Camden High School where he was in the ROTC and was recently invited to join the BETA Club. He was inducted into the National Honor Society in 2011. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing and hunting. Surviving are his father, Melvin Simpson of Camden; mother, Cheryl G. Gainey (Windell) of Camden; brother, Melvin Steven Simpson Jr. of Camden; step-sister, Brooke Gainey of Dillon; and paternal grandmother, Annette Simpson of Camden. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Malvin C. Simpson; and maternal grandparents, C.V and Myrtle Galloway.
