Obituary of Charles Randolph Delk
COLUMBIA- Funeral service for Charles Randolph Delk Sr., 72, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Paul Miles, Rev. Bryan Hunt, and Rev. George Cashwell will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
Mr. Delk died January 11, 2009. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late George Walter and Bertha Lee Delk. A graduate of Dentsville High School, he served in the United States Naval Reserves.
Mr. Delk owned and operated Delk Chevron in Pontiac and was a former Deputy Sheriff with Richland County Sheriff Department. He was elected in 1972 as Magistrate in Richland County and served on the bench for 26 years. He was a lifetime member of the Magistrate Association.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching baseball and softball.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Corrie Delk; daugther, Debra (Swayze) LeGrand of Pontiac; son, Randy (Pam) Delk Jr. of Elgin; stepchildren, Cindy Ross Brazell of Elgin, Tammy Lynn Brazell of Pontiac, and Kim (Chris) Kelly of Elgin; brother, George “Bubba” (Jean) Delk of Pontiac; sisters, Florene (Bill) Potter of Columbia, , Mary (Levon) Todd of Pontiac, Beatrice Jackson of Pontiac, Nioaka (Otis) Richardson of Lugoff, Lilly Bell (Bill) Wilcox of Lumberton, N.C., and Mildred (Robert) Sessions of Lugoff; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to Heartstring Hospice, Dr. Robert Eric Hartvigsen and his staff, Divita Dialysis, and Andy Demeter for their loving care.
