Obituary of Terri Cowling-Isham

Mrs. Terri Cowling-Isham, age 50, died July 11, 2008, of cancer in Columbia, South Carolina. For the past 10 years, Mrs. Isham was employed by the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism as a tourism marketing director and head of the interactive tourism marketing program. Prior to moving to South Carolina she was the director of the Lincoln City (Oregon) Visitor and Convention Bureau. Her tourism marketing career began in 1983 in Fresno, California, with the Piccadilly Inn Hotels, then the Fresno City and County Chamber of Commerce, followed by the Fresno Convention and Visitors Bureau. In California she popularized agri-tourism, in Oregon nature-based tourism, and in South Carolina on-line tourism marketing. Mrs. Isham graduated from McLane High School in Fresno, attended Fresno City College and Fresno State University, and earned MA and MBA degrees from Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina. She is survived by her husband, Dell Isham of Columbia, South Carolina, and Lincoln City, Oregon; her father and stepmother, Ensor Ervin and Janice Bush of Santa Maria, California; two sisters, Sherri Bush of West Columbia, South Carolina, and Jeri Beare of Spring, Texas; brother, Eric Bush of Visalia, California, and two nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at the Columbia Museum of Art, 1515 Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17th. A graveside service will be held in Lincoln City, Oregon, at a later date. Terri asked that memorial gifts be made to the Harvest Hope Food Bank, 2220 Shop Road, Columbia, SC 29201.
