Obituary of Marjorie H. Ewart
CAMDEN – Funeral service for Marjorie Hutson Ewart, 87, will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Trish Sargent and the Rev. Steve Jordan will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Morningside Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Ewart, wife of the late Charles Perry Ewart, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Leroy and Ethel Christmus Hutson. She was a faithful member of Morningside Presbyterian Church where she served as the organist and pianist for over 60 years. She was a talented musician and enjoyed arts and crafts.
In 2001 – Mr. & Mrs. Charles P. Ewart received the Sullivan Distinguished Service Award for years of faithful service to Mr. Ewart’s alma mater. For years they led summer work teams to refurbish dormitories and other facilities on the Erskine College campus located in Due West, SC.
Mr. & Mrs. Ewart were co-owners / operators of Colonial Electric Supply located in Lugoff, SC from the mid 1960s through the 1970s.
Surviving are her son, Charles Perry “Chuck” Ewart Jr. (Jo) of Spartanburg; daughter, Ginger Ewart Guinn (Frank) of Camden; brother, James Leroy Hutson (June); 5 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brother, Hugh Hutson Jr.; and sister, Dorothy Trawick.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Morningside of Camden and KershawHealth Hospice for their loving care.
