Obituary of Sarah Maltby

LUGOFF – A memorial service for Sarah Maude Walker Maltby, 77, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, Camden. The Rev. Dr. Angela Jennings will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church. Mrs. Maltby died Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Lynwood Kenneth Walker and Nancy Elizabeth Stilwell Taylor. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina and her Master’s Degree from Georgia Southern College. She taught in the public school system for 35 years and retired from Lugoff-Elgin High School in 2006. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and several book clubs. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge and spending time at the beach. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church in Camden. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Billy Ralph Maltby; son, David Maltby of Lugoff; brother, William “Bill” Taylor, Jr. (Dianne) of Lexington, S.C.; sister-in-law, Jeanette Johnson of Statesboro, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Will Taylor, Lance Klinger, Bridgett Klinger, Matthew Klinger, Glenda Gigailliat, Nancy Johnson, Traci Story (Tony), Joann Adams and Drexel Adams; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
