Obituary of Frank Shugart

ELGIN – Funeral services for Frank Eugene Shugart, 86, will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Theil-Meyer Pet Adoption Center. Mr. Shugart died on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Born in Keyser, W.V., he was the son of the late Frank E. and Ann Wise Shugart. He served in The United States Navy during WWII on the USS Hobson and retired as a Lieutenant in the Richmond Fire Department. Mr. Shugart was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 147 and The Tin Can Sailors Association. He was a board member of the Hobson Memorial Society and he enjoyed volunteering on the USS Yorktown in Charleston, S.C. He was an avid biker and a life member of HOG. Surviving are his wife, Kathi Wall Shugart; daughter, Dr. Margaret Shugart (Gary Copenhaver) of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Michoel Patterson (Ryan Casey) and Elizabeth Manzanarez; grandchildren, Frank Copenhaver and Martin Copenhaver; and grandchildren, Joseph Manzanarez, Dylan Fulk, Jose Garcia, Katia Blackbull Singer and Annalee Casey. He was predeceased by a wife, Ann Goode Shugart; and sisters, Elizabeth Shugart Case, Francis Ann O’Rourke, Margaret Verser; and granddaughter, Jayda Manzanarez.
