ELGIN- Funeral service for William Dewey Heflin Jr., 87, will be held on Tuesday at 11 A.M. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Heflin passed away on Friday February 5th, 2016 at home. Born in Washington, D.C, he was the son of the late William Dewey Heflin Sr. and Gertrude Elizabeth Blandford Heflin. He served in the United States Army Air Corps. He retired from the Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Columbia Typographical Union and enjoyed fishing. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Virginia L. Heflin; daughters, Karen Heflin Busnardo (Marc) of Elgin, Janice Heflin Southerland of Stafford, VA, and Lori Andrea Buckler of Colonial Beach, VA,; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Virginia Gulick and Gertrude Tydings.
