ELGIN – Funeral service for John Edward Perry, 86, will be held on Monday Feb 8, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Miles will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church or KershawHealth Hospice or Meyer Thiel Animal Adoption. Mr. Perry passed away at home on Monday, February 1, 2016. Born in Oolitic, Ind., he was the son of the late William Cleveland Perry and Ollie Cobb Perry. He retired from the United States Army having served in Vietnam. He enjoyed animals, gardening and woodworking. He was a member of Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are his wife, Polly Ann Hawker Perry; son, Ken A. Perry of Elgin; sisters, Lucy Mitchell and Edna Whitaker; brothers, Larry Perry and Gene Perry; grandson, Ryan Nutter; and a great-granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Nutter. He was predeceased by sisters, Sally Roth and Irene Stewart; and brothers, Burchill Perry and Charlie Perry.
