Obituary of Marvin K Tennant

CAMDEN – Funeral service for Marvin Kell Tennant Jr., 90, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Elgin Congregation Holiness Church with burial to follow in Deliverance Tabernacle Cemetery. The Rev. Judy Luke and Chaplin Thomas “Buzz” Mattingly will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Elgin Congregational Holiness Church Building Fund. Mr. Tennant passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Born on January 20, 1926 in Tampa, Fla., he was the son of the late Marvin Kell Tennant Sr. and Wilma Vernell Champion Tennant. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He became a Christian in 1953 and started in the Ministry in 1955. His last few years have been with Elgin Congregational Holiness Church where he preached occasionally. He was predeceased by two lovely wives that he called angels, Esther Shirley Tennant and Marlene Ballard Tennant; a son, Carey Lindsey; step-son, Bobby Glenn Ballard; and a grandson, Michael Daniel. I leave my love with my children, The Rev. Marvin K. Tennant III (Shelley), Rebecca T. Bullock (Jerry), and Lindsey Tennant; step-son, Winston Clay Ballard (Janet); 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. My greatest desire is that all I leave behind will meet me in that land where we will never part again. The Lord Bless and Keep You.
