Obituary of Thomas Henry Brinson
RIDGEWAY- A Celebration of Life Service for Thomas Henry Brinson, 68, will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Camden, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate with Mr. Brinson’s son-in-laws Chuck Capell and Greg Atkinson. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:30 in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or other missions work at the church.
Mr. Brinson died Thursday, December 31, 2015. Born in Nuremberg, Germany, he was the son of the late Hiram Thomas and Mary Daumler Brinson. Mr. Brinson was a member of First Baptist Church, Camden, where he served as a greeter, Sunday School and nursery worker and with the Urban Stars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Brinson served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Commendation Medal. He graduated from Limestone College in 1983 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. He retired from Mead-Westvaco in 2010 after 41 years of service.
He was widely respected as a good friend, faithful Christian, helpful neighbor, and loving husband and father.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Karon Crolley Brinson; daughters, Michelle Capell (Chuck) of Rembert, Anitra Atkinson (Greg) of Ridgeway; son, James Brinson of Cassatt; grandchildren, Laken Atkinson (Taylor), Garrett and Laney Capell, Ella and James Brinson, and Abby and Sarah Atkinson; and a great-grandchild, Paxton Atkinson.
