ELGIN - Funeral service for John Bentley Pennington, 52, will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hardshell Cemetery. The Rev. Olin Kirkland will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorial s may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Pennington passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015. Born in Frankfort, Ky., he was the son of Patsy Beard Pennington and the late Charles Bourne Pennington, Jr. He was the Director of Technology for the South Carolina Medical Association and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia. He enjoyed playing video games, working out, golfing, fishing, boating but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 11 years, Tracy Kirkland Pennington; children, Hope Stayman (Nicholas) of Johns Island, S.C., Erin Boyce (Daniel) of Ridgeway, Heather Champe (Christopher) of Camden, Katie Morris (Raymond) of Charlotte, N.C., and Caleb Pennington of Cayce; brother, Charles Bourne Pennington III (Patty) of Elizabeth, N.J.; and grandchildren, Caiden Champe, Karleigh Champe, Colton Champe, and Harlin Boyce.
