ELGIN – Funeral services for Edmund Taliaferro Thompson, 90, will be held Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Burial will held in Middleburg Memorial Cemetery, Middleburg, VA, at a later date. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson, formally of Aldie, VA, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015. Born in Round Hill, VA, he was a son of the late Bayliss John and Jennie May Flemming Thompson. Mr. Thompson served in the Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Cocoa Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Wilma Byrne Thompson; daughters, Patricia Ann Church (James) of Point Blank, TX, Barbara Jane Mason (Alfred) of Purcellville, VA; son, David Lee Thompson (Christie) of Elgin; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Forrest Thompson.
