KERSHAW- Betty LeaRose Smith Mathes was born June 18, 1933. She passed away on December 10, 2015 at age 82. She was the daughter of the late Victor and Marvelle Power Smith. Betty married the late Kenneth Mathes on January 9, 1955. Leaving to mourn her passing is her son, Steven and his wife Pam; Granddaughters, Megan Mathes (Levi Barrett) of Camden and Shelly Smalls (Ryan) of Conway; and four great-grandchildren, Steven Barrett, Hannah Barrett, Jackson Smalls and Presley Smalls. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Mathes. Betty spent most of her life in Scotland and Putman County Missouri. In 2002 she moved to Kershaw South Carolina to be with her son and family until her passing. She was a member of Refuge Baptist Church in Kershaw, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Refuge Baptist Church Building Fund, 2814 Lockhart Road, Kershaw, SC 29067. A memorial service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Refuge Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service .
