Obituary of Charlie Boone

LUGOFF - A gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of Charles Alexander “Charlie” Boone, 67, will be held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kershaw County. Charlie died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Camden, he was a son of Viola Faile Boone and the late Gus Boone. He served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam. As a youth, he was a marble champion and played baseball. He coached Pony League Baseball and enjoyed bowling and was a Mason and Shriner. Mr. Boone was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved NASCAR. Surviving are his wife, Terri Boone; mother of Ridgeway; daughters, Charlene (Steve) Branham of Elgin, and Donna (Michael) Rash of Little Mountain; step-sons, Steven (Maegan) Calkins of Elgin, and Christopher of New Mexico; brother, Jerry Boone of Pa.; sister, Lois (Mitchell) Branham of Ridgeway; grandson, Alexander Rose of Elgin; and step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Calkins of Elgin, and Dameon Calkins of New Mexico. He was predeceased by his father; and a brother, Ronald Boone.
