Obituary of Herbert Ray Rutledge
CASSATT – A service to celebrate the life of Herbert Ray Rutledge, 79, on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Cassatt Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 1333, Camden, SC 29020.
Mr. Rutledge passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at home. He was born in Abingdon, Va. on September 25, 1936. He served in Vietnam and retired after 21 years of service in the United States Army.
Mr. Rutledge also retired from the Kershaw County Sheriff Department where he was a Lieutenant. After retirement from the Sheriff Dept., he became a substitute teacher in the public school system in Union County, N.C. He was a member of the American Legion Post 17, Camden-Lugoff Elks Lodge, and was a founding member of the Kershaw County Woodworking Club. He was a member of Cassatt Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Dianne Alice Shreve Rutledge; step-daughters, Kim Andrysczyk (Craig) of Irmo and Cassandra Wisener (Kevin) of West Point, Ga.; 3 sisters; 12 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. James Wells III and the staff of Lexington Oncology and also the staff of KershawHealth Hospice.
