Obituary of James L. Bradley

LUGOFF - Funeral Service for James L. Bradley, 83, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Greg Sweet will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, Md. 20814 or the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 4124 Clemson Blvd. Suite L, Anderson, S.C. 29621. Mr. Bradley died Tuesday, May 27, 2008. Born in Kershaw County, he was the son of the late Leavy Leonard Bradley and Ellie Deese Bradley. A United States Marine Corp veteran, he served during WW II in the Battle of Saipan, Tinian, and Guam. He also served in the reserves in the Aleutian Islands and is a member of the James Leroy Belk American Legion Post 17. Mr. Bradley retired from DuPont and owned Bradley Heating and Air Conditioning. He enjoyed gardening. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Edna G. Bradley; children, D. Keith (Merry) Bradley of Lugoff, Kathy Bradley (Barry) Smith of Columbia, J. Ryan (Risa) Bradley of Beaufort, Phillip D. Bradley of Columbia, and Cheri Bradley (Lonnie) Burris of Camden; brothers, Edward Bradley, Earl Bradley, Cecil Bradley, and Donnie Bradley; sisters, Marie Bussart, Judy Bradley, Reba Thompson, and Peggy Jones; grandchildren, Hope (Chris) Sielicki, Erica Bradley, Morgan Jacobus, Michael Bradley, David Bradley, Blaine Burris, and Hannah Burris; great-granddaughter, Allison Sielicki; and a very special, loving, and caring, friend, Coota Montgomery. He was predeceased by a brother, Clyde Bradley; and sister, Bobbie Redemann.
