CAMDEN - Funeral service for Ruth J. Parker, 76, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Ed Stokes will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Parker, wife of the late Edgar G. Parker, left this world on Wednesday, May 20, 2008, to be with her Jesus and she will be missed dearly. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the Late Edmund Z. Harden and Lillie Bell Nichols Harden. She enjoyed bird watching and gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved spending time with her friends at McDonald’s and Wal-Mart, who she loved dearly. Surviving are her daughters, Cindy (Horace) Prater of Camden, Robin Parker of Camden, and Brenda (Harry) Lund of Lugoff; sister, Gen Harden of Camden; companion and best friend, Bill Jones of Camden; grandchildren, Tara (Kevin) Boone of Lugoff, Stephanie (Bryan) Gillian of Lexington, Amiee (Kyle) Boone of Kershaw, April (Dearal) Rodgers of Camden, Heather (Randall) Bock of Camden, and Danielle Partin of Lugoff; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Edgar Parker, Jr.; brothers, Edmund Z. Harden, Jr., Lehman Harden, and Willie J. Harden; and grandson, Dustin Grooms.
