Obituary of Thomas Wilson Greig
ELGIN – A memorial service for Thomas Wilson Greig I, 82, will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Charity Baptist Church in Hopkins. The family will receive friends Monday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lion’s Club, 109 Bow String Road, Elgin, S.C. 29045.
Mr. Greig, husband of the late Jean and special friend, Martha Maple, passed away on August 29, 2015. Born in St. Clairsville, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Alexander and Anna Ault Greig. He served in the United States Army and received his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Akron University. He was a Speech Pathology Audiologist in the public school system in Akron, Ohio and was also a carpenter.
Mr. Greig was a member of the Republican Party and the Norton Lions Club as well as the Columbia Northeast Club. He was an avid golfer with an outgoing and humorous spirit. He loved and valued the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughter, Sandra G. Ferguson of Elgin; son, Thomas Greig II (Terry) of Elgin; brothers, David Greig (Ruby) and John Kovac; sisters, Lois Albright and JoAnn Poling (Bob); grandchildren, Megan Greig, Wilson Greig III (Kim), Tamra Kahlow (Tommy), Thomas Ferguson, and William Ferguson; and great-grandchildren, Ivy Greig and Charlie Kahlow. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
