CASSATT – Funeral service for Joseph L. Tidwell, 65, will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Beaverdam Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church Building Fund, 1684 Old Georgetown Road West, Cassatt, S.C. 29032. Mr. Tidwell passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015, surrounded by his family. Born in Kershaw County, he was the son of Thelma Anderson Tidwell Bodiford and the late Harold Lee Tidwell. A graduate of Camden High School class of 1968, J.L. worked for Piggly Wiggly while in high school and worked for Kendall during the summer which lead to his full time position where he later retired from DeRoyal. Mr. Tidwell was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church where he sang in their choir, served as a Director of Brotherhood, and served on various committees. He was also a member of the Old Geezers Club, Roundman Race Club, Golf Club, and formerly coached Womens softball and basketball. Surviving are his son, Kevin Tidwell (Wendy Davis) of Bishopville; daughter, Kelley Tidwell Crane (Jeremy) of Cassatt; mother, Thelma Bodiford of Cassatt; brother, Douglas Tidwell (Teresa); sisters, Wanda Swann (Tommy) and Susan Boone (David); grandchildren, Dylan Tidwell, Matthew Tidwell, Morgan Crane and Savannah Crane; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Wallace Tidwell.
