ELGIN- A funeral service for Lucy Barfield Elmore, 88, will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Camden, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Camden or a charity of one’s choice. Mrs. Elmore, wife of the late Grady Lester Elmore, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Born in Kershaw County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Zealon Barfield and Irene Robertson Barfield Laney. She retired from Hermitage Inc. as office manager and worked in accounting for the Chronicle-Independent. Mrs. Elmore was a member of First Baptist Church, Camden. She was a devoted Christian who loved her church and studying her Bible. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Surviving are her daughters, Kathy Elmore Aldrich (Robert) of Camden, Linda Atkinson Stabler (Herbert) of Columbia, and Cynthia Atkinson Fruth (James) of Dallas, Texas; son, Christopher Zealon Elmore (Wendy) of Elgin; sister, Patricia Barfield Weidner (Jim) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Angela Fawver (Chris), Jonathan Bell (Jaclyn), Matthew Bell (Melissa), Amanda Ward (Cliff), Megan Nates (Trey), Allison Argoe, Taylor Elmore, Leslie Null (Glenn), Jacob Fruth (Teresa), and Jameson Fruth; great-grandchildren, Justin Drinkard, Jacob Bell, Kaitlyn Bell, Drew Fawver, Owen Bell, Evan Fawver, Miles Ward, Susan Fruth, Parker Null and Braxton Null; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Elizabeth Colleen Clanton and Mary Jacqueline Barfield. Lucy extends a special thanks to Ana Miller (her “daughter” and caregiver) and Amedisys Hospice for their loving care.
