Obituary of Mike Lynch
LUGOFF – Funeral service for Michael Anthony Lynch, 64, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Union Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Lewis will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church Gym Fund, PO Box 116, Elgin, S.C. 29045.
Mike passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Jesse James Lynch Sr. and Ida Mae Robinson Lynch. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Jackson and served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1972. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Mike retired from DuPont and was a member of the American Legion Post 17. He was an avid Baseball fan and enjoyed playing softball in Kershaw County for many years. Mike also enjoyed classic rock music and shooting pool.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Cathy Davis Lynch; daughters, Cate Lynch Goff (Hank) of Elgin and Jenny Lynch Stirling (Bryan) of Columbia; grandchildren, Brady Goff and Owen Goff; and sisters-in-law, Marianne Lynch and Dr. James Ann Lynch Sheley. He was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy Lynch and Lou Lynch; and sister, Joan Smith.
