ELGIN- A funeral service for Sandra Barfield Jeffers, 73, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Old Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Dean Reynolds will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church at 14605 Highway 34 East, Ridgeway, S.C. 29130. Mrs. Jeffers passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Eugene “Gene and Gwen Hall Barfield. Mrs. Jeffers was a member of Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church and the Olympia Historical Association. She worked as an office manager for Jeffers & Son, Inc. Mrs. Jeffers was an avid reader and loved her family and friends. She was the best grandma in the world. She enjoyed fishing and being the center of any crowd. “MawMaw” was the life of the party. Surviving are her husband of 27 years, Laverne “Buddy” Jeffers, Sr.; daughter, Pam J. Grigsby (Darrell); step-children, Laverne “Verne” Jeffers, Jr. (Nicole Sloan), and Renee J. Wooten; grandchildren, Chris Grigsby (Sarah), Matthew Grigsby (Kelley), Dylan Grigsby, Kelsey Jeffers, Mandy Jeffers, Lauren Steading, Brittney Burke (Daniel) and Cassie Jeffers; and 12 great-grandchildren.
