ELGIN – Funeral service for Eunice Elizabeth Gainey, 87, will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery in Cross, S.C. The family will receive friends on Thursday 4-9 p.m. at the home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Mrs. Gainey, wife of the late George Leon Gainey, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Born in Hartsville, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Ray Norton and Ellen Thompson Galloway. Surviving are her daughters, Rita Branham (Brad) of Elgin, Teri Gainey Bastian (Teddy) of Valdese, N.C., and Lynn Gainey Hambourger (Alan) of Glenview, Ill.; brother, Helmuth Norton; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings, Arduth Norton King and Jesse Norton. The family extends a special thanks to Peggy Graham, Doris Johnson, Estelle Douglas and Michelle Gryder for their loving care.
