LUGOFF – A memorial service for Harry “Joe” Holderness, Jr., 92, will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 Fair Street, Camden, S.C. 29020. Mr. Holderness passed away on the morning of Monday, March 30, 2015. Born in Ligonier, Ind., he was the son of the late Harry J. Holderness Sr. and Jeanette Pollock Holderness. He served in the United States Navy during WW II and retired as a real estate agent. His happiest memories were traveling in his motorhome with his wife, Nancy and their dogs. He was also proud of his Honor Flight to Washington DC in November of 2009. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Landon Holderness; children, Michael B. Holderness (Judy) of Sarasota, Fla, Victor Jon Holderness of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jane Alison Holderness (Chris) of Indianapolis, Ind. And Amy Prickett Holderness of Brooklyn, NY; step-daughter and special angel, Vicki McKendrick and her husband, Gregg Hardee of Lake Wateree, S.C.; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Arlin Byrne Holderness, the mother of his children.
