CAMDEN – Funeral service for Charles Everett Hayes Sr., 87, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hermitage Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Jason Fletcher and the Rev. Mark Hopkins will officiate. The family will receive friends at the residence 32 Gardner Street, Camden. Memorials may be made to Hermitage Baptist Church Arise and Build Fund, 814 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Camden, S.C. 29020 or Wateree Baptist Church Soup and Sandwich Ministry, 2024 Haile Street, Camden, S.C. 29020. Mr. Hayes, husband of the late Ophelia Dixon Hayes, died Sunday, December 16, 2012. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Charlie Henry and Edna Tidwell Hayes. He retired from Hermitage Mill and was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church. Surviving are his daughters, Brenda Broadway (Howard) of Camden and Debra Smith (Jimmy) of Cassatt; sons, Eddie Hayes (Zinda) of Camden and Michael Hayes (Ann) of Camden; brothers, Donnie Hayes and Leslie Hayes; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Howard Hayes, George Hayes, and Earl Hayes; and sister, Agnes Bennett. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Godfrey, Dr. Munn and their staff for the special care given to their father during his illness.
