LUGOFF – Funeral service for James William “Pete” Nelson, 74, will be held on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Elgin with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ken Jackson will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2666 Highway 1 South, Elgin, S.C. 29045. Mr. Nelson died Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Born in Blaney, he was the son of the late William Kershaw and Sara Farmer Kervin Nelson. Surviving are his children, James Mark Nelson (Ashley), Patty Nelson Florence (Patrick), William Brent Nelson and Krista Evelyn Nelson; sister, Norma Collins, Sally Nelson, Mary Hegler and Rose Wilson; brothers, Larry Nelson, Charlie Nelson, William Kershaw Nelson and Howard Lee Nelson; grandchildren, Frankie Nelson, Brittany Finch (Byron), Joshua Beam and Heather Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Madisyn Finch and J.B. Finch. He was predeceased by a brother, Billy Michael Nelson
