LUGOFF – A memorial service for Roy Phillips, 78, will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Stines and Billy Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Kershaw County, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, SC 29078 or Agape Hospice House 141 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, S.C. 29210 or Agape Hospice of Camden, 700 West DeKalb Street, Camden, S.C. 29020. Mr. Phillips passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015. Born in Aiken County, S.C., he was the son of the late Fred C. and Hattie Jane Davis Phillips. He was a member of El-Bethel Faith Community Church and enjoyed fishing. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Louise Blevins Phillips; daughters, Vickie Lynn Ray (Peter) of Lugoff, Rhonda Lee Stevens (Mike) of Columbia, and Sheryl Duncan (James) of Camden; son, Roy Walter Phillips (Cheryl) of Cheraw; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, “Pretty”. He was predeceased by brother, Ray Phillips, and sisters, Betty Ann Phillips, Margie Palmer, Bobbie Gove and Dorothy Crapps.
