Obituary of Thelma J. Carter
CAMDEN – Funeral service for Thelma J. Mahoney Carter, 92, will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Bruce Hancock and the Rev. Everett Recconu will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mrs. Carter, wife of the late Edgar A. Carter, died Saturday, March 14, 2015. Born in Parkersburg, W.V., she was the daughter of the late Rev. L.R. and Beatrice Shriner Mahoney. She graduated from Mountain State Business College and was a member of First Baptist Church of Camden. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and handwork.
Surviving are her daughter, Connie Ann Rouner (James) of Lancaster; son, Allen R. Carter (Thelma) of Columbia; and grandchildren, Douglas Rouner of Lawrenceville, Ga., Cynthia Rouner of Atlanta, Ga. And Christa Scharf of Charlotte. She was predeceased by brother, R. Paul Mahoney; and sisters, Peggy Sue Roush and Patsy Lou Smith.
