LUGOFF – Funeral service for Deena Marie Cowles, 44, will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia on Wednesday. The Rev. C. Paul Stephens will officiate. The family will receive friends at the home. Deena went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 27, 2015. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of Bill Hagen and Rhonda Ratcliff Smith. She was employed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield and was a member of New Covenant Church of Lugoff. She enjoyed reading, kickboxing, teaching children and most of all spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband, Paul Edison Cowles; children, Joshua William Hagen and Serena Ann Cowles; step-daughters, Jennifer Rosales, Rebekka Bernique and Jessica Mata; sister, Marisa Hagen; and 6 grandchildren.
