Obituary of Gerald Edward Pickle

ELGIN – Funeral services for Gerald E. Pickle, 65, will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Dean Reynolds will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church, Golden Hearts, at 14603 Hwy 34 E., Ridgeway, S.C. 29130. Mr. Pickle passed away Monday, February 23, 2015. Born in Wilson, AR, he was a son of the late Melvin and Dora Miller Pickle and his second mother, Nora Mae Pickle. Mr. Pickle retired after 22 years of service from the U.S. Army 63 Bravo Unit as a heavy wheel mechanic. He was a member of Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church and the VVA. He enjoyed fishing, talking on his CB radio, and was an excellent mechanic. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Helen Ann Miller Pickle; children, Jacqualine Makowski (James) and Randy Pickle (Heather); brothers, Jessie Pickle, Jerry Pickle, David Pickle and Melvin Pickle; sisters, Jesse Blackwell, Tessie West, and Tammy Pickle; and 4 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, James Pickle.
