Obituary of James Brantley King
CAMDEN- Funeral services for James Brantley King, Sr. 88, will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Patterson will officiate, and the Rev. David Weaver and the Rev. Everett Recconu will assist. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3-4 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Agape Hospice House, 141 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.
Mr. King passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015. Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late William Benton and Marie Waters King. Mr. King served in the United States Air Force and the Merchant Marines. He retired from DuPont and was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Camden Masonic Lodge #29 and the Camden Jamal Temple Shriners. He enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Rae Stokes King; son, James Brantley King Jr.; daughter, Patricia Mims and husband, the Rev. John Mims; sister, Joyce Davis; grandchildren; Sheila and Phil Mims, Sherri Mims and Marc Anglade, Dr. Jason Brantley King and Fiancée Jori Stenn; and great-grandchildren Justin Mims and Sydney Mims.
