Obituary of Ida W. Bell

LUGOFF - Funeral service for Ida L. Williams Bell, 89, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Daniel Flessas will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Ebenezer UMC and the Alzheimer Association. Surrounded by her loving family and in the presence of God on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, she closed her eyes to the darkness of Alzheimer’s and woke up to the light of the glory of heaven. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late John Sidney and Sallie Gettys Williams. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she was very involved in the activities of the church. She was a member of the Kershaw County Home Demonstration. Surviving are, a sister-in-law, Hazel Williams; nieces, Leslie Crocker McCaa, Kaye Chapman, and Lyn Morrey; nephews, David Williams and Edgar Bell; great-nieces, Valerie Leigh Taylor (Steven), Betty Toney Blythe (Bill), Amie Dillard, and Sally Williams Cough (Matt); and great great-niece, Alayna “Laney” Taylor; great great-nephew, Alexander McCaa “Alex” Taylor. She was predeceased by her husband, James Rollings Bell; siblings, Ida Louise Williams, Nathan D. Williams, John Williams, Kathryn Williams McCaa, and Jane Williams Livingston; and brothers-in-law, Gordon Bell, Grady Bell, Edgar Bell Sr., and Joseph Bell. The family extends great appreciation to the staff of the Karesh Wing and Pinedale Nursing Center for their loving care given to Mrs. Bell.
