BETHUNE – Funeral services for Davis Ray Brown, Sr., 88, will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Hwy 34, Lugoff, S.C., with burial to follow in Sandy Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Howell will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sandy Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or Compassionate Care Hospice. Mr. Brown, husband of the late Sarah Watkins “Sallie” Brown, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Pinedale Residential Center. He served in the United States Army and retired from Kendall Company. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Bethune Lions Club. He enjoyed traveling, camping and making crafts. Surviving are his sons, Davis Ray Brown Jr. (Sandra) of Chapin and Marvin Lee Brown (Myra) of Bethune; daughter, Dianne Brown McAlpin (Dan) of Magee, Miss; sister, Mona B. Prosser; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1great great-grandchild. He was predeceased by brothers, Marvin Wendall Brown and W. Barnwell Brown.
