Obituary of Franklin D. Jolly
ELGIN – Funeral service for Franklin D. Jolly, Sr., 80, will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Spears Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral home, Lugoff.
Mr. Jolly passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Born in Union County, he was the son of the late Paul Victor Jolly and Ethel Atavia Hart Jolly. He retired from the City of Columbia where he was a supervisor with the Sanitation Department. He was a devoted member of Spears Creek Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Mr. Jolly enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, going to the mountains, NASCAR and was an avid Braves Baseball fan.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Rachel Ann Elkins Jolly; sons, Ricky Jolly of Columbia, Dwayne Huggins (Teri) of Charleston, Dale Jolly (Michelle) of Pelion, and Paul Jolly of Elgin; daughters, April David (Keith) of Columbia and Amy Jolly of Charleston; sisters, Barbara Clarke of Columbia and Patricia White (John) of Mt. Olivet, Ky.; mother-in-law, Doris Elkins Barton; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Joanna Jolly; and brother, Noah Jolly.
