MT. PLEASANT, SC – Betty L. Speedy passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at her home in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. She was born on December 24, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Gracie B. Atkins Alspaugh and the late Loyd Alspaugh. She worked for the United Sates Government in Arlington, Virginia before moving to South Carolina where she lived in Columbia, Camden and Mt. Pleasant. She is survived by her mother, Gracie B. Alspaugh; three sons, Robert W. Speedy, Chad W. Speedy (Belinda), and Brett W. Speedy (Sadie); six grandchildren, Isabela Speedy, Max Speedy, Payton Speedy, Ivey Speedy, Malia Speedy and Dorian Speedy; two brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held graveside on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenhaven Preserve, 1701 Vanboklen Road, Eastover, S.C. 29044. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for a “Safer Cure”.
