Obituary of Betty Hinson Ray

LUGOFF – Funeral services for Betty Hinson Ray, 84, will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church, with burial to follow in Hardshell Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Stines will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to El-Bethel Faith Community Church, Building Fund. Ms. Ray, wife of the late Clyburn Ray, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Born in Lugoff, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Fannie Freeman Hinson. She was a member of El-Bethel Faith Community Church, where she served as a former deacon, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Mrs. Ray was a loving mother and “Nonnie” who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her sons, Larry Ray (Barbara), and Tommy Ray (Brenda), both of Lugoff; daughter, Debbie Moak (Anthony), of Lugoff; sisters, Emily Canady, Bertha Reynolds, Eldora Poeta, all of Lugoff; brothers, Floyd Hinson, of Lugoff, Thomas Hinson of Winnsboro, Bobby Hinson, of Lake Wateree; 9 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 1 great great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by sister, Mary Jackson. The family extends a special thanks to the staff of KershawHealth Hospice for the loving care.
