LUGOFF – Funeral service for Frank L. Clayton Sr., 85 will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at El-Bethel Faith Community Church with burial to follow in Hardshell Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Stines and the Rev. Jeff Grubbs will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to El-Bethel Faith Community Church 905 Longtown Road, Lugoff, S.C. 29078 or Agape Hospice, 700 W Dekalb St, Camden, SC 29020. Mr. Clayton passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014. Born in Winnsboro, S.C., on October 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Eugene and Annie Lee Dempsey Clayton. He retired from Uniroyal after 40 years and was a member of El-Bethel Faith Community Church. He was a former choir member and enjoyed church activities, woodworking and traveling. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Jackson McAleer Clayton; daughter, Janice Clayton; son, Frank Lewis “Buck” Clayton Jr.; step-daughters, Brenda McAleer Yelverton (Jim) and Donna McAleer Barrett; grandchildren, Scott Byrd, Holly Byrd, Jason Yelverton (Jennifer), David Yelverton, Stephen Yelverton (Stefanie) and Joel Yelverton (Jessica); 13 nieces and nephews; a special niece, Mary Lee Branham; and his caregiver, Albert Branham Jr. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bessie Reynolds Clayton; brothers, Roland Clayton, John Clayton and Don Clayton; and sisters, Viola C. McCoy and Dell C. Belk. The family would like to especially thank Kayla, Lisa, Margaret and Jeff, his care team with Agape hospice and Mr. Clayton’s church family who frequently visited during his long illness.
